Can Gemini Notebook record lectures?
Last verified: October 12, 2026
Yes, in the mobile app. Gemini Notebook's audio recorder captures a lecture or your own thoughts and adds the recording to a notebook as a source. It is a mobile-app feature, so a desktop Chrome extension cannot reach it, and we have not tested Notebook Toolkit against recorder output, so we do not claim to export it.
In more detail
Google announced the recorder on 15 September 2026 as part of its back-to-school study tools, and XDA Developers describes it as recording audio directly into the notebook so you skip recording elsewhere and uploading. Because it runs in the Android and iOS apps, Notebook Toolkit's desktop extension cannot see it. We found no export option described in Google's announcement for the recorder itself. Notebook Toolkit saves web pages, YouTube videos and AI chats to a private library, sends them to Gemini Notebook through the Chrome extension, and exports library text as Markdown, LaTeX, JSON or plain text. If you record lectures, keep the original audio file outside the notebook as well so you have your own copy.
