NotebookLM and Gemini Notebook are the same source-grounded research notebook from Google. The rename, announced on 16 July 2026, brought it under the Gemini brand alongside the Gemini app. What stayed the same: notebooks, sources, citations, Audio Overviews and the Studio panel. What changed around the same time: the main address is notebook.google.com, Collections for grouping notebooks (from 20 July), copying a notebook (17 August), compute-based usage limits that refresh every 5 hours (2 September), new study tools on mobile (15 September) and Play Books as sources through Expert Intelligence (September). Do not confuse Gemini Notebook with the Gemini chat assistant: Gemini answers from the model and the web, while Gemini Notebook answers from the sources you add.
