Google renamed NotebookLM to Gemini Notebook in July 2026 and kept a no-cost tier for personal Google accounts. On 2 September 2026 Google replaced fixed daily counts with compute-based usage limits. How much each action uses depends on the complexity of your prompt, the length of the chat, the number of sources in the notebook and the features you use, such as Audio or Video Overviews. The quota refreshes every 5 hours until you reach a weekly limit, and Gemini Notebook shows your remaining usage at the bottom of the chat. Paid Google AI plans and some Workspace plans give higher limits.
