Is there a Gemini Notebook API?

Last verified: October 27, 2026

Not for personal accounts. As of October 2026 Google documents no consumer Gemini Notebook API; only the Gemini Notebook Enterprise API, in Preview (v1alpha), for Google Cloud customers. If you want an AI agent to search your research, Notebook Toolkit runs a remote MCP server over the library you save with it.

In more detail

Google offers programmatic access only through Gemini Notebook Enterprise on Google Cloud, whose API is in Preview (v1alpha) and covers creating notebooks and adding sources. Personal Google accounts have none, and community tools that automate the web interface are unofficial and break when it changes. The practical alternative for developers and agent users is MCP: Notebook Toolkit exposes your saved Toolkit library, captured web pages, YouTube transcripts and AI chats, to Claude Code, Cursor, Codex and other MCP clients with personal access tokens. It does not read the contents of your Google notebooks. See the /mcp setup guide.
