The Chrome extension uses an optional host-permissions model: you grant access to specific platforms (ChatGPT, Claude, YouTube, etc.) when you want to capture from them, rather than a blanket "all sites" permission. Source content is processed to route into NotebookLM through your authenticated Google account; only minimal metadata (timestamps, capture targets, workspace IDs) is retained server-side to support the workflow.
