Is there an MCP server for NotebookLM?

Last verified: October 12, 2026

Google publishes no official MCP server for Gemini Notebook (formerly NotebookLM) that we could find. Community servers drive the web page and break when it changes. Notebook Toolkit runs its own remote MCP server for the library you save with it; today you connect Claude Code, Cursor or Codex with a token.

In more detail

Model Context Protocol (MCP) lets an AI client call external tools through a standard interface, and a Gemini Notebook MCP server is a frequent request. As of 12 October 2026 Google documents no official MCP server and no public consumer API; the Enterprise API is a Preview for Google Cloud customers. Community servers that automate the Gemini Notebook web interface are unofficial: they need a signed-in browser session and stop working when Google ships a UI change. Notebook Toolkit takes a different route. It runs a remote MCP server at https://notebooktoolkit.com/api/mcp for the library you save with it, so an assistant can search your sources, read them in slices, pull citations and check workspace health, and on Pro capture pages, tag sources, export and queue sends to Gemini Notebook. You connect Claude Code, Cursor or Codex with a personal access token. The Claude and ChatGPT one-click connectors need an OAuth flow that is not available yet. See the /mcp guide for setup.
